Course Information

Nursery managers run early years childcare centres, providing day care for babies and young children from birth to 5 years.

This Distance Learning Nursery Management Level 3 course has been designed to meet the needs of those wishing to enter a management-level career in a nursery or pre-school child care setting.

What can you do with Nursery Management?

You could work for a local authority, a privately owned nursery or a Sure Start Children’s Centre.

With experience, you could become an area manager and look after the work of a number of nurseries. You might also consider setting up your own private nursery. Ofsted have information on how to do this.

You could become a trainer or training assessor for people studying for childcare qualifications. You could also move into inspection.

Taking a higher education qualification in early years or child development could help you move into teaching, children’s nursing or social work.

Previous Knowledge Required

You do not need any prior learning knowledge or experience to take this course. It is openly available to anyone who wishes to take part in a highly rewarding home study course, although you would be expected to have a reasonable standard of literacy.

You have the freedom to start the course at any time and continue your studies at your own pace for a period of up to 12 months from initial registration with the full support of your Tutor.

  • Detrimental issues and learning
  • The importance of differentiation
  • Planning learning with the support of assessments
  • Observations
  • Summative assessments
  • Referral to third parties
  • Risk assessment
  • Communication for play and learning
  • The play cycle
  • The importance of play for young children
  • Play equipment and space in the nursery setting
  • Outdoor play space

Assessments

You must successfully complete a series of assessments. Once all assessments and activities have been completed and you have met the required outcomes, you will then be awarded your certificate. The good news is, there is no final exam.

Course Outcome

Once you have successfully completed this course, you will receive a certificate of achievement in Nursery Management Level 3 from the Quality License Scheme. You will also receive a learner unit summary which will list the components you have completed as part of your course.

This course has been endorsed by the Quality Licence Scheme who endorse high-quality, non-regulated provisions and training programmes. This course and/or training programme is not regulated by Ofqual and is not an accredited qualification. Your training provider will be able to advise you on any further recognition, for example, progression routes into further and/or higher education.
