Course Information

The Distance Learning Early Years course demonstrates how children can feel safe in a supportive environment and where they can develop and thrive.

This course aims to provide you with knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), a statutory framework which has been in place since September 2012, affecting all child care settings in the UK. This is essential if you work within a childcare field, such as childminding, nurseries, out-of-school clubs, creches and schools with nursery facilities with children up to the age of 5.

Using the EYFS as its focus, this course will provide you with the knowledge and understanding that is necessary to provide high-quality child care in accordance with the latest government regulations.

The course learning outcomes are as follows:

  • Gain extensive knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage;
  • Deepen your understanding of children’s development;
  • Demonstrate your commitment to child care sector to potential employers;
  • Understand the latest guidance on children’s development, health, safety and welfare.

What can you do with Early Years Level 3?

You could look for work in childminding or a nursery.

With experience, you could become a key worker for one or more children. You’ll monitor their progress and share information about their development with parents or carers.

As an experienced nursery worker you could specialise in working with children with learning difficulties, physical difficulties or mental health problems.

You could also progress to room leader, senior nursery worker or centre manager.

You could also study towards a higher education qualification in early years or child development. You could then move into management or early years teaching.
