This IGCSE Computer Science Edexcel Course will help you to understand and apply fundamental principles and concepts of computer science, including abstraction, decomposition, logic, algorithms and data representation.
You will be able to analyse problems in computational terms through practical experience of solving such problems, including designing, writing and debugging programs.
You will also gain an understanding of the impacts of digital technology to the individual and to wider society. For this specification, grades 9-1 are available.
IGCSE Computer Science could lead on to further study in Computer Science at A-level. You could also take on the IGCSE in ICT, which can be taken in combination with this course.
There are no previous entry requirements for this course, however students are expected to have a reasonable standard of literacy.
You have the freedom to start the course at any time and continue your studies at your own pace for a period of up to 24 months from initial registration with the full support of your Tutor.
The IGCSE Computer Science Online Course has six modules you will need to cover.
Students will be required to arrange and pay for their examinations / practicals at an Edexcel approved centre. We can provide an extensive list of these centres for you.
IGCSE Exams
There are two exams for the full IGCSE qualification. The length of each exam is as follows:
Paper 1 – 2 hour
Paper 2 – 3 hour
Practical Exam
Paper 2 is a practical assessment carried out on a computer system using a programming language of choice. For this course, we will teach you Python. You will need to ensure that your centre is able to cater for this examination.
