FAQs

You can enrol online right now by Card or PayPal (Visa, Mastercard, Maestro and American Express). Alternatively, we also accept BACS transfer or we can send you a payment link.

With our courses, we have learners from all over the world enrolled.  Therefore, if we restricted your learning to certain times, not everyone would be available.  All our courses are accessible 24/7 via our online secure portal.  Any videos on your portal would be pre-recorded meaning you can work through your course at your own pace.

The flexibility of Functional Skills is why it is so popular. They are designed to get you a Level 2 qualification that many universities and employers require quickly. The exams are available monthly, both online or via a local exam centre. So in theory, you could pass your Functional Skills in a matter of weeks, and gain that Level 2 qualification.

Our Functional Skills courses are flexible. We understand that circumstances change and sometimes things can take a little longer. If you go over the 12 month period then talk to us. We are more than happy to discuss these options with you.

In order to gain a qualification that is accepted universally, in schools, colleges, universities and in the workplace, you have to take an examination. We know that exams are not always a favourite for some people, so we have tried to make them as hassle free as possible by offering online remote exams for our Functional Skills courses. You can sit them at home, in familiar settings, without the hassle of having to find an exam centre to make it as hassle free as possible.

Not only that, but if you choose the online remote exams, then should you not pass first time around, then a free resit is included.

Your tutor will go through your options with you once you are ready. When you are ready, then you will need to pay for your exam fees.

Once you are booked in, there is typically a 2-4 week wait before sitting the exam, plenty of time to get in some extra revision.

We can help you find a local exam centre, or we can offer you our online remotely invigilated exams so that you can take them from home.

Below shows the cost of our online exams where they are remotely invigilated (includes one free resit).

Functional Skills English (3 x exams) £195

Functional Skills Maths (1 x exam) £145

Functional Skills ICT (1 x exam) £145

You may be able to find cheaper exam centres out there should you look around. We can help you with a list of centres in the UK. All of the exam centres set their own fees, so we can’t give you exact figures, but typically they range from £80-£200 per exam.

We wish we could offer our courses for free to everyone as they are brilliant!

Unfortunately, we are a private college and we would not survive if we did. You are probably wondering ‘why would I pay?’

Well, it depends on what you want from your course.

Our courses are extremely flexible compared to a college course. They are engaging and exciting to learn and you will not get bored!

Also, as soon as you enrol, you can get started immediately and you are NOT restricted by exam dates as they run frequently.  Not to mention that all of this can be done from the comfort of your own home!

Wait! We forgot to mention the support you will receive. Our tutors are AWESOME and will help you at each stage throughout the course.

Still unsure? See below for more information on Functional Skills English

We provide access and support for 12 months, however we have had learners complete the Functional Skills English course as quickly as one month.  With the course being online, this makes it extremely flexible for learners and if they have a deadline to meet, they are most likely going to achieve it with our college.

Whilst the Functional Skills English is equivalent to a pass in GCSE English, it is also easier to achieve.

The course is not as in-depth as GCSE English and exams run more frequently.

The Functional Skills English course prepares you for real life situations such as letter writing, reading information, spelling, punctuation and grammar.

You will not be required to write long essays in the exam.

On successful completion of your exam, you will be awarded a qualification which is regulated by Ofqual.

The English qualification will be recognised by employers, colleges and universities.

Your tutor would not put you forward for the English exam if they felt you were going to fail.  They will ensure that they are confident in you passing before suggesting you sit the exam.

If you do have concerns still, our online exam does include one free resit.

Our online invigilated exams are with NCFE.

Our various centres offer NCFE, City & Guilds, Edexcel or OCR. However, please bear in mind that if you require a specific awarding body, you may have to travel further.

Whichever awarding body you are offered, you will come out with the same qualification – Functional Skills English Level 2.

It is Ofqual who set the requirements for the qualification and therefore should be minimal differences in the awarding bodies.
