The International A Level Mathematics course is a popular course awarded by Pearson Edexcel. Learners enjoy the flexibility the course provides as there are five routes to choose from for A Level Mathematics alone. For most modules, there are also three exam series per year which means learners can sit unit exams when they are ready.

The A Level Mathematics course also includes Pearson endorsed eBooks for each unit chosen and access to Integral.  Integral is an award-winning online learning platform designed to develop deep independent mathematical understanding.

This specification contains the units for the following qualifications:

  • Pearson Edexcel International Advanced Subsidiary in Mathematics (XMA01) (IAS Level)
  • Pearson Edexcel International Advanced Level in Mathematics (YMA01) (A Level)
  • Pearson Edexcel International Advanced Subsidiary in Pure Mathematics (XPM01) (IAS Level)
  • Pearson Edexcel International Advanced Level in Pure Mathematics (YPM01) (A Level)

Once you have enrolled onto the course, we will contact you to find our which route you are looking to take.  We can then issue your eBooks accordingly.

If you need help choosing your route, please refer to the FAQs below for more information.

All A Levels are a step up from GCSE including Mathematics.  Algebra becomes more complex in respect of rearranging, functions and proofs.  Exam questions generally require multiple steps as opposed to single-skill workings.  The course we offer with Pearson Edexcel provides structure and good resources to help you with your studies.  In addition to our course, we provide logins to Integral an award winning learning platform and full tutor support.

If you enjoy logical problem-solving and are comfortable with algebra, you should have no problems achieving an A Level in Maths.

You will not be required to purchase any books with this course.  We automatically include logins to our online e-Library which includes access to following eBook(s):

Edexcel International A Level Mathematics Pure Mathematics 1 Student Book: Student Book – Joe Skrakowski

Edexcel International A Level Mathematics Pure Mathematics 2 Student Book: Student Book – Joe Skrakowski

Other books will be issued based on the options you choose.

Not see the book you are looking for? Ask us and we will let you know if we have it!

Mechanics

Modelling the physics of the world around us e.g. at what angle should a cricketer aim to hit the ball in order to maximise the distance the ball will travel? Students planning careers in physics or engineering would find mechanics particularly useful.

Statistics

Collecting and analysing data and using this to make predictions about future events. e.g. actuaries study statistical information to calculate the risk of a driver of a certain age having a car accident. This information would be used by insurers in establishing the cost of the annual premiums.

As part of your Maths course, you will also have access to Integral which provides comprehensive resources to support your study and revision for AS/A level Mathematics. Integral covers the whole of the A level Mathematics curriculum.

Resources are designed to develop the deep understanding and skills you need to excel in maths. They’re structured to guide you through initial learning, practice and then reaching examination standard.

Edexcel International A Level Further Mathematics – this subject will help deepen your core maths skills in complex numbers, matrices, proof and calculus.  Pathways can lead onto degrees in Maths, Engineering and Physics at top universities.

Edexcel International A Level Economics – this subject uses graphs and modelling and combines well with mathematical thinking in real-world scenarios.  Economics and Maths are strong subjects for progression onto top business schools or universities.

The Pearson Edexcel Physics course can be taken worldwide except for the UK.  Content within the specification is adapted for international learners and the qualification is comparable to UK A Level standards.

There may be a few centres within the UK allowing you to take this specification but it is best to check with us beforehand.

AS and A levels are standalone qualifications, however the Full A Level carries more UCAS points than the AS Level.  It also requires more study hours as follows:

  • AS Level = 180 hours
  • A Level = 360 hours

You will see the difference in the content above under ‘syllabus’ but you can also refer to our article on ‘what is as level’ for more information.

You will receive access and support for two years, however you can complete it much sooner if you want to.  Exams for this subject fall in January and June each year for most topics but some are also assessed in October and therefore you are able to choose which exam sitting you want to apply for.  We have more information on exam timetables here.
