IGCSE Chemistry Edexcel Online Course

IGCSE Chemistry Pearson Edexcel

The IGCSE Chemistry Online course with Learn Now follows the Pearson Edexcel (4CH1) specification and is equivalent to the qualification you would achieve if attending mainstream college. Once completed, you will be able to progress onto A Levels, an Apprenticeship or Level 3 Vocational Course.

This course would suit adult learners returning to education, students resitting exams or studying alongside other commitments, and learners who are home educated.

Edexcel IGCSE Chemistry can be taken anywhere within the world. Pearson Edexcel centres for examinations are situated internationally including the UK.

Please note that the Pearson Edexcel specification is 100% exam based. You will not be required to find a centre who will submit a non-examined assessment (NEA) as the course will be assessed solely through written examination at your chosen exam centre.

FAQs

Still unsure? Look through our FAQs

If you have never covered chemistry in the past, you may find the start of the course challenging, however we will begin by building a foundation in atomic structure, bonding, reactions and calculations. This will then lead onto plenty of practise in preparation for your exams.

You will not be required to purchase any books with this course.  We automatically include logins to our online e-Library which includes access to eBooks such as:

International GCSE Chemistry Book (Hodder Education) – Graham Hill, Robet Wensley

Not see the book you are looking for? Ask us and we will let you know if we have it!

For Chemistry, you will be carrying out calculations such as moles and concentrations.  You will also need to interpret graphs and analyse data.  IGCSE Maths can strengthen this area of your knowledge and support scientific notation.

Looking further ahead at career options, Chemistry, Physics and Maths are strong combinations for engineering whereas Chemistry, Biology and Geography can help with Applied Sciences.

GCSEs form a natural progression onto A Levels, however you may also want to consider some other options too.  You could look into a Level 3 apprenticeship which would allow you to earn whilst you learn.  Popular apprenticeships would include Laboratory Technician or Manufacturing Technician.

If you are based outside the UK, IGCSEs are widely recognised by top Science Universities such as Princeton, ETH Zurich and the University of Tokyo.

The Pearson Edexcel IGCSE Chemistry course can be taken worldwide including the UK.  Content within the specification is adapted for international learners and the qualification is comparable to UK GCSE standards.

You will receive access and support for two years, however you can complete the course much sooner if you need to.  Exams for this subject fall in May/June and October/November each year and therefore you are able to choose which exam sitting you want to apply for.  We have more information on exam timetables here.

The International GCSE is taken worldwide rather than just within the UK.  It is equivalent to a GCSE but is often 100% exam based.  See our article IGCSE vs GCSE for more information.
