There are three exams for the full qualification. The length of each exam is as follows:Paper 1 – 1 hour 30 min

Paper 3 – 2 hour 15 min
Practical Exam
Paper 2 and paper 3 are practical exams. You will need to ensure that your centre is able to administer these exams.The practical exams will comprise of a number of tasks to be taken under examination conditions which will consist of:

Edexcel IGCSE ICT
Specification Code: 4IT1
The Edexcel specification will allow you to explore how digital technology impacts on the lives of individuals, organisations and society. You will learn about current and emerging digital technologies and the issues raised by their use in a range of contexts by individuals and organisations.
The course will develop your awareness of the risks that are inherent in using ICT and the features of safe, secure and responsible practice. It will also broaden and enhance your ICT skills and capability.
The course has six modules you will need to cover.

IGCSE Exams

Paper 2 will be a three-hour practical examination, set and marked by Pearson. Please ensure that your centre is able to cater for paper 2.In the practical exam, you will be required to create and edit documents, spreadsheets, databases, graphics, web pages and presentations.

FAQs
Will I find this course hard?
Some learners don’t find ICT too challenging. If learners have already had some involvement with software previously such as word processor, spreadsheets and databases, they generally thrive when asked to complete more advanced functions.
If you are someone who enjoys using computers, is good at organising information and enjoy creating documents and presentations, you should have no problems with this subject.

Which subjects should I study alongside this course?
Computer Science – ICT will teach you how to use computers and software but you will also delve into a small amount of code. Computer Science will teach you how technology is made up and how software is programmed. Programming is more intensive on the Computer Science course but it also allows you to understand how everything works.
Business Studies – This subject compliments ICT from a business aspect. ICT is used within business constantly as businesses must manage sales, employees and finances.
Where can the subject take me?
The course will open doors to a variety of subjects. You may want to progress onto A Levels in subjects such as Information Technology, Computer Science, Business or Economics.
After A Levels, degree options include Information Technology, Business Information Systems, Digital Media, Cyber Security or Computer Science.
If you don’t want to progress onto A Levels, you might want to consider a level 3 apprenticeship which would allow you to earn whilst you learn. Vacancies include Digital and AI Support Apprentice, Business IT Support Engineer Apprentice plus many more.
Overall the subject will develop valuable skills in digital literacy, problem-solving, organisation and communication.
Can I study this course from outside the UK?
Pearson Edexcel and Cambridge (CIE) qualifications can be taken inside and outside the UK. Content within the specification is adapted for international learners and the qualification is comparable to UK GCSE standards.
How long does the course take?
You will receive access and support for two years, however you can complete the course much sooner if you need to. Exams for this subject fall in May/June or October/Novembereach year and therefore you are able to choose which exam sitting you want to apply for. We have more information on exam timetables here.
How does this course compare to a college GCSE?
