Advanced Level qualifications are subject-based academic courses which can be studied remotely through distance learning. You will access learning materials and support online through the student portal.

Typically taken by 16–18-year-olds but also available to students of all ages.

The certificate you will receive will be the same as classroom-based certification and you will follow the same specification but in a more relaxed environment.

Choosing the right A Level qualification.

Learn Now offer UK A Levels through AQA and international A Levels through Cambridge International and Pearson Edexcel.

The main difference is that the UK version is linear, meaning exams are taken at the end of two years and the international version is mostly modular meaning exams can be sat in stages.

Exams, Assessment and Practical Endorsements

Advanced Level exams are taken in person at an approved exam centre.  You will need to register as a private candidate at least 5 months prior to the exam series you want to sit exams in.

We can provide you with help and guidance on finding a suitable exam centre.

Sit exams at an approved centre

Exams for AQA fall in May/June and exams for most Cambridge International subjects fall in May/June and October/November (excluding Classical Studies).

For Classical Studies, they only hold one exam sitting and details of this will be on the course subject page.

Pearson Edexcel exams will typically be sat in the January or May/June series. However, the October/November series is offered in specific regions outside the UK.

Find an exam centre

Booking your exams well in advance avoids the disappointment of not being able to sit exams at a centre of your choosing.

To avoid late entry exam fees, we recommend you book your exams in January if you expect to sit them in the May/June series.

Practical endorsements

Some subjects, such as science, may require a practical endorsement.  This is usually completed through the external exam centre.  Each subject will detail whether the endorsement is required on the individual page.
