Course Information

One in four young people in England have a mental health condition.  There has been a substantial increase in rates of anxiety, depression and other disorders.  Rates of such conditions in 16-24 year olds have risen by more than a third in a decade.

The NCFE CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Children and Young People’s Mental Health course will provide you with an understanding of how society views mental health and how it has changed over time.  You will cover Legislation in place to support children and young people’s mental heath.

You will also identify risk factors that can impact the mental health of children and young people.  This can include family mental health problems, parental separation, relationships with friends, problems at school and development etc.  Protective factors will also be covered such as physical health, diet, exercise, resilience and healthy relationships.

The course will show the importance of diagnoses and the reasons why individuals may be reluctant to seek a diagnosis.
