If you want to develop your knowledge of becoming a Higher Level Teaching Assistant so that you can embark on a rewarding career or you are already working in a related field and want to improve your career prospects, then this is the course for you.
The Distance Learning Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) course study modules are based around the professional standards for HLTA status which set out for teachers, employers and parents the contribution to pupils’ learning that HLTAs are expected to make. The course has been written alongside the 33 TDA standards and will provide you with the underpinning knowledge to progress in this field on gaining the relevant experience for HLTA status.
This course is aimed at candidates wishing to become a Higher Level Teaching Assistant. Before you can complete this qualification, you must be working as a teaching assistant or be able to obtain voluntary or paid work experience in a school, as the role of an HLTA is to significantly improve the classroom and have impact on pupil progress. The time spent in the school should be a minimum of 50 hours.
Please note: This can be in either a primary, secondary or a special school setting. However, you MUST ensure that the pupils you work with are aged 5+ and are studying at Key Stage 1 or above. You will also need the support of a mentor from within the school who will confirm your competence and provide testimony of your abilities against the qualification standards. This Level 4 Higher Level Teaching Assistant course will lead to a regulated qualification approved by Ofqual demonstrating to employers that you have the necessary skills as a HLTA.
