Course Description

In this Distance Learning Forensic Science Level 4 Diploma course we will examine the fascinating subject of Forensic Science, which can be simply defined as the application of science to the law.

Forensic scientists use a range of techniques to find and study evidence from a variety of sources, like blood and other body fluids, hairs, textile fibres, glass fragments and tyre marks.

This course will teach you how to look for evidence to link a suspect with a crime scene.

What can you do with Forensic Science Level 3

In order to become a Forensic Scientist you would need to progress onto a degree in either forensic science or another science based subject.

You could also start as a forensics lab support assistant.

  • Module 10: Forensic Pathology at the Mortuary
  • Module 11: Forensic Anthropology
  • Module 12: Forensic Odontology
  • Module 13: Forensic Entomology
  • Module 14: Forensic Botany
  • Module 15: Forensic Serology
  • Module 16: DNA Typing (Fingerprinting)
  • Module 17: Forensic Toxicology
  • Module 18: Forensic Firearms Investigation
  • Module 19: Questioned Documents
  • Module 20: Forensic Vehicle Examination

There are no exams at the end of this course and assessments are based purely on coursework only.

Previous Knowledge Required

You do not need any prior learning knowledge or experience to take this home study course, however if you have no knowledge in this field at all you may find it easier to begin with out Forensic Science Level 3 course first . This course is openly available to anyone who wishes to take part in a highly rewarding home study course, although you would be expected to have a reasonable standard of literacy.

You have the freedom to start the course at any time and continue your studies at your own pace for a period of up to 12 months from initial registration with the full support of your Tutor.


You will have dedicated Tutor Support for 12 months. All assignments are marked by one of our professional Tutors who will offer regular feedback and guide you through your course. You must have access to email in order to contact your Tutor.

You will be provided with the telephone number for your dedicated Student Support Team who will be available for any other queries that you may have whilst completing your course. You can be assured that you will receive unlimited support for your home study course, so there is no need to struggle or feel isolated during your studies.


You must successfully complete a series of assignments. Once all assignments and activities have been completed satisfactorily, you will then be awarded your certificate.  The good news is, there is no final exam.

This course has been accredited under NCFE IIQ Licence by NCC which has been approved as an NCFE Investing in Quality (IIQ) centre. The course measurable learning outcomes have been benchmarked at Level 4 (using Ofqual's Qualification and Credit Framework (QCF) level descriptors) to allow you to consider the depth of study, difficulty, and level of achievement involved.
