You have the freedom to start the course at any time and continue your studies at your own pace for a period of up to 12 months from initial registration with the full support of your Tutor.

Grammar and punctuation ensures that everything you write can be easily read and understood. Do you know when to use a semicolon or a comma? On completion of this course everthing will become clear.

Learn how to respond to the ideas put forward by an Author and take the opportunity to provide your reaction to set texts using correct terminology.

Make your essays and texts more interesting to the reader by adding your own features and devices.

Learn how to condense your writing without omitting any important information. Reduce a chapter of a book to one page with ease.

Can you produce a piece of writing, which is engaging and interesting? Learn how to present your views in a particular format, whilst keeping the audience’s attention.

Put together a well thought out essay drawing on all of the skills you have learned above.

From your brief, you will learn how to put together a report using the analysis of evidence available in a structured manner.

Write a formal letter to your bank, local council, landlord or any other company using the correct format in a confident manner.

Spelling correctly is being able to form words with the correct letters in the correct order and is essential for any communication purposes in everyday life.

Assessments

You must successfully complete a series of assignments. Once all assignments and activities have been completed satisfactorily, you will then be awarded your certificate.  The good news is, there is no final exam.

Outcome

At the end of this course successful learners will be awarded a Certificate of Achievement by Abstract Education and a Learner Unit Summary (which lists the details of all of the units you have completed as part of your course).

Still unsure? See below for more information on English Level 2

The syllabus for English Level 2 is equivalent to GCSE/IGCSE Maths, however, please bear in mind that the GCSE English is a qualification registered by Ofqual whereas this English Course is a Level 2 Certificate.

If you are looking to progress onto further employment, university, or college, it is best to check the entry requirements.  If they require a GCSE in English or equivalent, you would be best taking one of the following courses:

If they are just asking for a Level 2, this course should be fine, however we would always recommend that you check with them first.

You will receive support and access for 12 months; however, we have had learners complete the course as quickly as 1-2 months.

It all depends on your deadline if there is one and the amount of time you have available to allocate to the course.

If you are looking to complete the course as soon as possible, once enrolled, you will have the opportunity to add this to your enrolment form.  This information will be passed over to your tutor so that they can help you as best they can.

On average, you would need to achieve approximately 75% or above on your assignments.  This is not set in stone as your tutor will need to ensure that you have met all the required outcomes to pass the course.

If you submit an assignment where you have not passed, you will have the opportunity to revisit this and correct any errors.  Your tutor will provide feedback at each stage to help you progress through the course and they are also there for you if there is any aspect you do not understand.

It all depends on your preferred learning style and resources will be provided to help you with this.

However, rather than sitting an exam, your course will be based on assignments and sometimes this makes a course more achievable to the learner.

We do also offer the English Functional Skills Level 2 course.  This is not as in-depth as the GCSE but you would need to sit exams still.
