A Distance Learning Course is the ideal way to gain the confidence required within a certain subject without having the worry of trying to fit your studies around your everyday life. You can complete your studies in your own time and we are on hand seven days a week to help you plan your future.

Course Description

If you want to develop your knowledge of proofreading so that you can embark on a rewarding career or you are already working in a related field and want to improve your career prospects, then this is the course for you.

Proofreaders check written text after it has been edited and before it is printed or published, providing a final quality check to make sure that nothing has been missed by the copy editor. In this job you will need to be accurate and pay close attention to detail.

As a freelance proofreader, you would usually work from home and arrange your own hours, based on the amount of work you have.

With an employer you would typically work 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, but extra hours may be needed to meet deadlines.

The Proofreading Diploma course materials also include Appendix I, a glossary of grammatical terms; Appendix II, a list of standard symbols used in proofreading; and a Bibliography listing helpful references, including relevant websites.

What can you do with Proofreading Level 4

You could find work in-house for an employer. As an experienced proofreader, you could build up your reputation as a specialist in a particular field, or approach publishing companies for work.

You could become a member of a professional body like the SfEP, Women in Publishing or the Publishers' Association, which could improve your career prospects.
