Course Description

In the Distance Learning Forensic Science course we will look at the fascinating subject of Forensic Science. Forensic science can be simply defined as the application of science to the law. In criminal cases forensic scientists are very often involved in the search for, and examination of, physical traces which may be useful for establishing or excluding an association between someone suspected of committing a crime and the scene of the crime or victim.

Such traces most commonly include blood and other body fluids, hairs, textile fibres from clothing etc., materials used in buildings such as paint and glass, footwear, tool and tyre marks, flammable substances used to start fires and so on. This fascinating subject provides a host of exciting career opportunities for those who are appropriately qualified and motivated.

The Level 3 Criminology Diploma is an extremely insightful distance learning course that has been developed due to the popular demand of our Level 3 Certificate. Criminology is a broad subject area that draws on the study of crime, violence, victims, terrorism, criminal statistics and the criminal justice system. The Criminology Diploma is a multi-disciplinary course that encompasses law, psychology and sociology in order to obtain a greater knowledge of this discipline and make informed conclusions.

Course topics covered within the Criminology Diploma include Children and Criminology, Young Offenders and the Criminal Justice System, the Anglo American Model and Labelling Theory and Critical Criminology.
