Course Description

The CACHE Level 3 Award in Preparing to Work in Home Based Childcare prepares students to set up a home based childcare setting. It is also suitable for students who wish to be employed in home based childcare settings as childminding assistants or other home childcarers (e.g. nannies, au pairs).

The qualification has been developed in collaboration with the Professional Association for Childcare and Early Years (PACEY).

Unit 1 provides learners with the knowledge required to work with children in a home based childcare setting whilst Unit 2 prepares learners to set up a home based childcare business

This Level 3 Award in Preparing to Work in Home Based Childcare course will lead to a regulated qualification approved by Ofqual demonstrating that you have the necessary skills to work within a childcare environement. - You will NOT require a work placement for this course.

For the Preparing to Work in Homebased Child Care Level 3 course you will cover the following content:-

  • Legislation and regulation in relation to home based childcare
  • Establishing a safe and healthy home based childcare environment for children
  • Supporting the safeguarding, protection and welfare of children
  • Promoting equality, diversity and inclusion
  • How day-to-day care routines promote childrenís well-being
  • Working in partnership to support childrenís outcomes
  • Childrenís, learning and behaviour in relation to sequence, rate and stage development
  • Value of play in a childís learning and development
  • Role of observation in a childís learning and development

Unit 2

  • Leading and managing a home based childcare setting
  • Financial and taxation requirements
  • Planning and creating a business plan
  • Registering with the appropriate regulatory body
Supporting independent learning
Teaching and learning resources
Evaluating learning activities
Supporting gifted and talented pupils

Previous Knowledge Required

You do not need any prior learning knowledge or experience to take this home study course. This course is openly available to anyone who wishes to take part in a highly rewarding home study course. .

You have the freedom to start the course at any time and continue your studies at your own pace for a period of up to 12 months from initial registration with the full support of your Tutor.

Support

You will have dedicated Tutor Support for 12 months. All assignments are marked by one of our professional Tutors who will offer regular feedback and guide you through your course. You must have access to email in order to contact your Tutor.

Assessment

This course is assessed by a series of assignments which are submitted to your tutor for marking. No external examination is required, so you can complete all assessed work from home.

The NCFE CACHE Level 3 Award in Preparing to Work in Home Based Childcare has been developed in collaboration with the Professional Association for Childcare and Early Years (PACEY). This qualification prepares learners to set up a home based childcare setting as a registered childminder. It is also suitable for learners who wish to be employed in home based childcare settings as childminding assistants or other home child carerís (e.g. nannies, au pairs)
