Course Description

This A' Level Government and Politics Course gives you the knowledge to understand how government works, particularly in the UK, but also in other countries. Politics will help you develop your research and analysis skills. It will provide you with a deeper understanding of governments and give you more information on careers in politics.

What can you do with A' Level Government and Politics

Students in the past have progressed onto Politics at University. From there you might become a researcher, join local or national government or even start on the path to become a member of Parliament. There are also other job options such as journalism, the media, teacher or work in the legal profession.

AS Level

Papers 1 and 2 will cover the following content':-

Political Parties
Pressure Groups and Protest Movements.
The British Constitution
Parliament
The Core Executive
Multi-level Governance.

AS level consists of two examinations totalling the overall AS Level grade.

Full A' Level

The first two subjects will be AS examinations and the third and fourth subjects will be A2 examinations:-

The Judicial Branch of Government: The Supreme Court.

Previous Knowledge Required

It is recommended that students should be educated to a GCSE Grade C or equivalent and have a reasonable standard of literacy. You have the freedom to start the course at any time and continue your studies at your own pace for a period of up to 24 months from initial registration with the full support of your Tutor.

Support

You will have dedicated Tutor Support for 24 months. All assignments are marked by one of our professional Tutors who will offer regular feedback and guide you through your course. You must have access to email in order to contact your Tutor.

You will be provided with the telephone number for your dedicated Student Support Team who will be available for any other queries that you may have whilst completing your course. You can be assured that you will receive unlimited support for your home study course, so there is no need to struggle or feel isolated during your studies.

Assessment

The course contains a number of assignments which your tutor will mark and give you valuable feedback on. You will also have access to quizzes to help you gauge your progress.

Students will be required to arrange and pay for their examinations/practicals at an AQA approved centre. We can provide an extensive list of these centres for you.
