Course Description

Do you enjoy gardening or fancy a career change? Our RHS Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of Horticulture is for you.

The RHS Level 2 Certificate course follows the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) specification giving you an easy and flexible way to study the principles of horticulture.

Learn the scientific aspect of plant classifications and structure, understand how to optimise plant nutrition and health, learn how to apply your knowledge to plants selection and garden planning as well as discover how to grow outdoor fruit and vegetables in a garden environment.

Assessment

With this course there are two available options.

1. If you wish to obtain the formal qualification then you must complete a series of written examinations, which will assess your knowledge of the learning outcomes for each unit. Examinations take place twice a year in February and June. You may take your exams at at any centre that has been approved by RHS Qualifications. There are currently around 60 exam centres throughout the UK, and we can provide you with a list of these.

2. Alternatively, if you prefer not to sit the exams, you will be provided with a certificate of achievement to acknowledge your completion of the course.

Previous Knowledge Required

You do not need any prior learning knowledge or experience to take this home study course. This course is openly available to anyone who wishes to take part in a highly rewarding home study course, although you would be expected to have a reasonable standard of literacy.

You have the freedom to start the course at any time and continue your studies at your own pace for a period of up to 12 months from initial registration with the full support of your Tutor.

Support

You will receive the entire package of course materials in a single dispatch together with dedicated Tutor Support for 12 months. All assignments are marked by one of our professional Tutors who will offer regular feedback and guide you through your course.

You will be provided with the telephone number for your dedicated Student Support Team who will be available for any other queries that you may have whilst completing your course. Awarding Organisation

On successful completion of this course and all necessary examinations, you will receive a Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of Horticulture. That means that it is independently accredited at a level of learning equivalent to level 2 on The Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) for England, Wales and Northern Ireland (where level 2 and 3 courses are similar in difficulty to GCSEs and A Levels, respectively, and where level 4 courses are slightly more challenging than an A-level).
